María José Vasconcelos is a Mexican-Spanish architect and photographer who lives and works in Paris.

María José is a versatile architect who seeks to bring a holistic perspective to her academic, professional, and creative work, which is why she pursued a Master’s degree in Fine Arts of Photography and Image-Making at Paris College of Art, Paris, graduating in May 2024. María José completed her Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Urbanism at the Universidad Iberoamericana Mexico City in 2017, the city where she began her work experiences ranging from residential, office, and interior design to visual arts and photography.

In her work, she plays with the relationship between memory and present, blurring the lines between the imaginary and the real, spatiality and perception, as well as identity and identification. Through her photographs, installations, and designs, she utilizes space as a common thread in time. Incorporating elements like archival photographs, scenery, and symbolic objects, she invites viewers to navigate through layers of time and meaning. Employing diverse mediums such as mirrors or distorted surfaces, she challenges the veracity of our physical reality and our perception of it.

“I identify myself as a multidisciplinary thinker. My practice lies in the fields of architecture, design, and urbanism. In my opinion, both architecture, and art are capable of intervening in the feelings and thoughts of human beings, but to do so necessitates an understanding of the issues and challenges within our urban and social context”
